About the painting:
This is the Verde River in Arizona, just outside of the town of Cottonwood. People don’t think Arizona can be green and lush, but sometimes it’s wonderfully so. A few fishermen were pulling up trout on this day, a warm January weekday. The sun was bright and the water sparkled.
