This place looks like it could be any stream, anywhere. It happens to be the Verde River, just outside the Tuzigoot National Monument, near Cottonwood, Arizona. I painted the first sketches of this when I was there this winter. People don’t think Arizona can be green and lush, but sometimes it’s wonderfully so. A few fishermen were pulling up trout on this day, a warm January weekday. The sun was bright and the water sparkled.
